“The Vietnam War showed some of the first signs that there were cracks forming in the bonds of trust that the US government told the American public unvarnished truth.”
This Kind of War by Fehrenbach talks about the rapid decline between 8/45 and 6/50. Nearly more lives lost in a shorter span (50-53) than during VN (57-73). VN put it all on display…via TV and the nightly news. Easier to not read or listen about something. Harder to unsee something.
To listen to politicians speak flippantly about world conflicts and guarantee our (future) victories as if they've been fought and won is atrocious. We are not at the military strength and capabilities of 1998 or even 2008 at this point.

Simple solution - declare war on Russia. Within a month, most Americans will be dead.
Problem solved on our end.

Very good read Arthur. I am shocked that basically 70% or 90% of our male population is in that bad of shape. Might keep one out of trouble though.
