So many things going on in the world-where does one even start?
The semi-annual Middle Eastern picnic between Israel and well, almost everyone else in the region is heating up. The Ukraine-Russia conflict is lurching towards its third year, with France apparently excited to jump into the fray.
Oh yeah, don’t forget Sudan and the rest of the global wars occuring.
Am I the only one who sees the insanity of declaring the start of a future war years in advance? Astounding to see announcements like this regarding a Pacific conflict with China.
The new fleet-wide guidance from the Navy’s top officer focuses on preparing the service for a potential war with China by 2027 as the maritime component of a joint “warfighting ecosystem.”
Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Lisa Franchetti will publicly issue her “America’s Warfighting Navy,” guidance to the wider fleet this week, more than a year into leading the Navy. The plan outlines her priorities for the service, which include fixing maintenance backlogs and recruiting, according to the final draft reviewed by USNI News.
Dubbed “Project 33,” Franchetti’s service-wide guidance wrestles with preparing for war with China with a short time horizon and problems caused by legacy readiness and recruiting deficits and the ships and aircraft currently in inventory.
Seriously, why isn’t this information kept closer to the vest? Does OPSEC1 not exist anymore? Setting aside the merits of a global conflict with China (and it would go global), why put out a strategy and action plan for them to scrutinize?
It was bad enough hearing that a US General felt comfortable telling Chinese officials sweet nothings in secret calls. That this only came out due to a book published mentioning it is astounding.
Milley has been at the center of a firestorm amid reports he made two calls to Gen. Li Zuocheng of the People’s Liberation Army to assure him that the United States was not going to suddenly go to war with or attack China. Details of the calls were first aired in excerpts from the recently released book “Peril” by Washington Post journalists Bob Woodward and Robert Costa.
Of course, this is the same General Milley who likened the Ukie-Rus conflict to WWII, so there can’t be too many marbles rolling in that noggin.
No matter, just another day closer to WWIII it seems.
Operational Security (OPSEC) is a security and risk management process that prevents sensitive information from getting into the wrong hands.
